These articles and pages were written in 2002/2003 when we were doing a lot of wireless based hardware development and in the cases noted may be horribly dated. We leave them here in case they may be of some use - and to remind us of the heady days of our youth. We would also suggest you look at this 6 volume series of books by Tony R Kuphaldt 'Lessons in Electric Circuits' published under the OpenBook initiative (means its free).
|Glossary||Definitions of some electronic terms. Big page. Some newer terminology missing but still highly relevant for all the basic stuff.|
|3.3V and 5V||The results of some experiments we ran when trying to isolate an MPC855T from that nasty 5V stuff which has a tendency to blow the chip up. Some of the logic chips used may have been replaced or obsoleted by now. Theory and basics still highly relevant though these days it's probably the 1.7V stuff that probably needs isolation - as well as the 3.3V stuff.|
|Equations||Some simple electrical equations.|
|BGA Layout||When we first tried to run a layout with a big BGA (MPC855T) it was a disaster (ORCAD with Auto-router). But it can be done with a semi-automatic fanout - then let the auto-router rip - works perfectly. From 2002. Mostly pretty dated. Bleeding edge stuff at the time though!|
