We use the MPCBDM interface and tools available from here (great work guys) but for debugging powerpc-eabi systems (e.g. for embedded work with RTEMS and other systems). We lost a couple of days in trying to do this and the notes below may help you to avoid the problems or more likely save losing more time since you are probably already in trouble!
Use the 'BuildGBD' script supplied with the tar.gz file you downloaded (1.2.3 is version we are working with) unless you really know what you are doing.
Make minimal edits to this script file - ignore all the linux kernel references (these are only invoked if you run with an 'all' or 'linux' parameter.
DO NOT (as we did) change the 'target=' line in this script to 'powerpc-eabi' since you will consistently fail in the simulator build. Just leave the current target and all will be well. Just let it build and then use a strange name to invoke GDB (powerpc-linux-gdb). I'm sure there is a better way and if you know it....

Problems, comments, suggestions, corrections (including broken links) or something to add? Please take the time from a busy life to 'mail us' (at top of screen), the webmaster (below) or info-support at zytrax. You will have a warm inner glow for the rest of the day.
