IP Multicast Features

• User control over supported multicast routes.
• IGMPv2 support.
• User control over IGMPv1 & IGMPv2 support.
• User control over ‘membership query’ intervals.
• Filtering of Housekeeping and User Multicast traffic (Housekeeping Multicasts will no keep Link open).

User control over supported multicast routes.

Multicasting features are defined at the 'Logical Route' level and are therefore destination sensitive not connection sensitive.

IGMPv2 support.

WarpTwo supports standard IGMPv2 services (defined in RFC 2236) but may be optionally configured to use IGMPv1 services.

User control over IGMPv1 & IGMPv2 support.

The user may enable IGMPv1 support using the ZyTrax Enterprise SNMP MIB. The default is to use IGMPv2 services.

User control over ‘membership query’ intervals.

The use may control the frequency of IGMP membership queries via the ZyTrax Enterprise SNMP MIB allowing optimization of LAN use.

Filtering of Housekeeping and User Multicast traffic (Housekeeping Multicasts will not keep Link open).

IGMPv1 or IGMPv2 messages are categorized as 'Housekeeping' and as such are NOT used in any calculations to keep links open or to add or remove capacity. Links will be dropped only if there no user data traffic flowing.
